Alex Schiffman

Alex’s love of suffering began when he started running cross country at Riverton High School, where he ran cross country and track his Sophomore, Junion, and Senior years. His senior year as a varsity athlete, he was also the cross country team captain and was nominated academic all state. While in High School, Alex attained what he would call his first “real” bike. However, he has been getting into serious road rash crashes from an early age. His first “real” bike was a 2009 Raleigh road bike that he bought with window washing money.

He then ran cross country his Freshman year of college at what was then Dixie State College, now Utah Tech University. As a Freshman he competed as a varsity runner and set the third fastest eight kilometer time in school history. He then served a two year mission for his church in Houston Texas, where he biked a lot.

Upon returning from his mission, he got married to his wonderful wife Terynn, and they moved to St George. Alex competed one more season at Dixie State, before taking a break for a few years. After a few years off and in what Alex’s own words describe his physical rock bottom, he decided it was time to do an ironman. In the Spring of 2020 Alex decided to sign up for the St George Ironman that would be that May. But alas, the world fell apart and everything got postponed, and Alex’s goal of just finishing slowly morphed.

Still with that original Raleigh road bike he started the process, however he quickly started looking for a triathlon bike solution. Alex wandered into IBB Cyclery one day and the rest is history. He scheduled a bike fit and he has been trying to get more aero and put out more power on his Cervelo P series ever since! Not long after becoming a loyal customer Alex was brought on part time and now full time and hopes to help everyone find positive change in their lives through all of their multi sport needs. Alex graduated with a BS in Psychology and brings a fresh pair of eyes to the biking industry. Alex has industrial mechanical experience; combined with a lifelong passion for working with his hands and learning how things work he provides a unique piece to the IBB standard.

Alex will tell you that his favorite place to ride is anywhere along the St George Ironman course, and you're likely to see him on his orange Cervelo trying for a Strava segment. Alex says the things he enjoys the most about working at IBB Cyclery are his coworkers and the daily pursuit for better.
